An Instamatic… Then a Yashica twin lens reflex, purloined from her brother…

Photography has always been a joyous part of Denise Daclan’s life.

Though with a BA in Interior Design from CSULB and a career in event planning, taking pictures professionally seemed a long way off.  But passions have a way of sticking with us, and Denise went back to school at Santa Monica College to pursue her love full time.  She currently works at Boeing doing industrial photography as part of the manufacturing process.  Yet her weekends and many evenings are spent catching those rare moments of Rock n’ Roll and music on film.

Her images are deeply personal and rich and layered.  Denise just sees things differently.  She loves to frame them from a unique and sometimes unexpected POV… something beyond the usual.

“I love photography because it captures a moment that will never occur again. Ever. And to me the best photos capture the 'decisive moment' (as brilliantly stated by Henri Cartier-Bresson).

Close-ups… macro shots… Denise says, “There is a whole Horton Hears A Who! World that needs to be explored.”

Just take in some of her images, and you may just see a universe you never knew existed.
